Frequently asked questions
What can I expect from The Yoga Space Melbourne?
We believe yoga is for everybody. Whether you have never completed a yoga class or have been practicing for years, we are deeply committed to providing everybody with an experience of this wonderful, transformative practice. We aim to provide a warm, welcoming and inclusive yoga experience and we look forward to meeting you on the mat.
Booking and cancellation policies
Due to government restrictions of 10 people per class, all classes must be pre-booked online. We have implemented late cancel and no show fees to ensure everyone has a chance to attend. Please only book for classes you know you can attend as we do not provide refunds if you cannot attend your class of choice. If you book into class and are unable to attend, please early-cancel at least 9 before your class is due to start. You can do so via your MINDBODY dashboard. If you fail to do so you will incur a late cancellation/no show fee (outlined below).
Where a class is booked, please be sure to put your name on the waitlist and you will be notified by email or text message when a spot becomes free. Nearly everybody on the waitlist ends up getting a spot in that class. If you no longer want that spot, you must cancel out via MINDBODY. If you fail to do so you will incur a late cancellation/no show fee (outlined below).
Late cancel and no-show policy
If you pre-book a class and fail to early cancel your booking at least 9 hours prior you will be automatically charged a $15 late cancel fee (with the exception of 5, 10 & 20 class pass holders and drop in class bookings, who will lose a class). Please note bookings cannot be accepted without a credit card on file. Late cancel and no show fees are non-refundable. This is in place for all in-studio classes.

I’m new to yoga, is that ok?
Absolutely! We welcome all levels of yoga from first-timers to experienced yogis. If you are brand new to yoga, we recommend starting with our Yoga Basics classes, which cover the fundamentals of the poses, their alignment as well as covering the breath and some meditation. Yin classes, with long, restorative holds, are also open to all levels.
I’m pregnant, can I attend class?
If it’s your first time coming along to a yoga class, please feel free to come along to a Yoga Basics class. Be sure to tell your teacher that you’re pregnant so they can offer you appropriate poses and let you know which ones to skip. If you’ve practised yoga before, come along to any class but again, make sure you let the teacher know.
I have an injury or medical condition, can I attend class?
If you have an injury or medical condition, it is always best to talk with your treating health practitioner about whether yoga is suitable for you. Please let your teacher know about any injuries before class. Be sure to listen to your body and respect its boundaries. If you have a cold or a flu, a fever or runny nose, please do not attend the studio. Rest at home until it has fully cleared.
What do I need to bring to class?
Please bring your own mat and props. Expect to get a little warm, so please bring a small towel. Please also bring a water bottle.
What should I wear?
You may wear whatever clothing you feel comfortable in and that doesn’t restrict your movement (whether it’s specialized yoga leggings, shorts and a t-shirt from the mid-90s or whatever you’ve managed to throw on from your floor to make it to a 6am class).
Can I suspend my pass?
You can suspend an unlimited 3, 6 or 12 months pass as well as a direct debit payment at any time, but we do need an email to let us know at least a week in advance so we can arrange it for you. If you’re emailing for a suspension please include start and end dates. Your pass will automatically renew after your stated end date. Please refer to our terms and conditions for details.
We lock the doors at the appointed start time of the class. This is to ensure that classes are not interrupted and belongings are safe at all times. Please give yourself time for parking and delays so that you can arrive before the start of the class and are not disappointed.
How do I get there?
We are located a short stroll from Elsternwick train station. The number 67 tram runs along Glen Huntly Rd, right past The Yoga Space. We are closest to Stop 46. There is also two hour parking nearby on Glen Huntly Road and Orrong Road.
Where can I park?
We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before class to find a park on Glen Huntly Road, Orrong Road or the car parks off Glen Huntly and Orrong Roads. Most areas are 2P but double check signs.
